"A 'vagabond' film par excellence, "Le vrai film est ailleurs" places us --from its very title-- in a paradoxical space full of absence: the camera provides us with the ultimate link to three characters bound together by hazy circumstances; as the raison d'etre of their common behavior and their fortuitous, trivial, sometimes profound conversations, like so many other meandering conversations. Simultaneously, that camera that we sense unites them becomes translucent, almost transparent, ghost-like. The camera has vanished, the real film has faded away; here, something akin to life, or a kind of suspended life, is enacted in the interstices of events. In the hope that, through the observation of the camera, or the tape recorder, some inkling of truth with seep through. "

Filme vagabundo por excelencia, Le vrai film est ailleurs nos sitúa - desde su propio título - en un espacio paradójico y cargado de ausencia: la cámara se siente vínculo último entre tres personajes de relación desdibujada; como razón de ser de sus comportamientos en común y sus conversaciones fortuitas, triviales, a veces profundas como tantas otras conversaciones sin rumbo. Simultáneamente, esa cámara que intuimos que les une, se vuelve translúcida, casi transparente, fantasmagórica. La cámara ha desaparecido, el verdadero cine se ha ido a otro sitio; aquí transcurre algo así como la vida, o un tipo de vida en suspenso, en los intersticios de los acontecimientos. En espera de que, a través de la mediación de la cámara, de la grabadora, se cuele un poco de verdad.
